Pak-Pro Earns Distinction for Whiskey Packaging

Pak-Pro has earned an Excellence Award for Achievement in Packaging in the Paperboard Packaging Council’s 2026 competition for its Kentucky Rambler Cask whiskey carton. The award recognizes a project that combined structural design, premium printing, and specialty finishing to improve both the package’s performance and shelf appeal.

For our team, it also celebrates something central to great folding carton packaging: collaboration.

A Better Folding Carton, Built Together

Working closely with our client, our structural design team redesigned an existing carton to improve usability, simplify materials, and preserve its premium appearance.

The updated design replaced metallized polyester board and a heavier paperboard structure with lighter solid bleached sulfate (SBS) paperboard. The result maintained strength while improving material efficiency. Structural refinements also made the carton easier to open and securely close.

Premium Printing and Finishing for Whiskey Packaging

Silver foil, vibrant UV printing, and precisely aligned embossing gave the whiskey packaging depth, texture, and visual impact. These finishing techniques enhanced the existing brand artwork and created a package that invites consumers to take a closer look.

Executing the design required careful coordination across Pak-Pro’s structural design, printing, finishing, and quality teams. Every step contributed to a carton that balanced appearance, protection, usability, and manufacturing efficiency.
